Goes to Town - Breakout!

Some of our specimens sneaked away!

While the Oxford University Museum of Natural History was closed in 2013 for roof repairs, 12 exhibits left the building to appear in locations all around Oxford city centre. The Goes to Town trail has now closed, but each exhibit still has a page on this site where you’ll find more information about the specimens, along with special recordings by Museum staff and Oxford University scientists.

About the Museum

Founded in 1860 as the centre for scientific study at the University of Oxford, the Museum of Natural History now holds the University's internationally significant collections of entomological, geological and zoological specimens. In 2013 the original glass-tiled roof is being stripped, cleaned and reinstalled to prevent rainwater from leaking into the courts.
